"For in everything, O Lord, you have exalted and glorified your people, and you have not neglected to help them at all times and in all places." (Wisdom 19:22)
Wisdom completes the meditation on the Exodus, contrasting God's treatment of Israel and Egypt one final time. The Egyptians, who had let Israel go after long reflection, received them back pursuing them with armies: they were brought to the end that fitted them; for they deserved to suffer and experience even stranger misfortunes. For the whole creation in its nature was fashioned anew, serving your commands, that your children might be kept unharmed. The cloud was seen overshadowing the camp, and dry land emerging where water had been, an unimpeded road out of the Red Sea, and a grassy plain out of the mighty flood. For in everything, O Lord, you have exalted and glorified your people, and you have not neglected to help them at all times and in all places.
The Catechism identifies the summary statement of Wisdom 19:22 as the theological conclusion of the whole book: God exalts and glorifies his people and helps them at all times and in all places - this is the foundational promise of covenant care (CCC 301).
Brothers and sisters, you have not neglected to help them at all times and in all places. The entire Exodus narrative leads to this conclusion: no situation is beyond God's help, no time is outside his attention, no place is beyond his reach. At all times. In all places. This is the God who keeps covenant with you. He has not neglected you and will not.
Lord God, in everything you have exalted and glorified your people and not neglected to help them at all times and in all places. Do not neglect us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
